How we automated prospect research for a fitness creator platform — scraping follower data, analysing post content, and pushing only qualified leads to the sales team in Slack.

The Challenge

A SaaS platform built for fitness creators had a lead quality problem. Their signup form was pulling in a broad mix of people — some genuine fitness influencers, some hobbyists, and a lot of accounts with no real fitness presence at all. The sales team was spending hours researching every new signup manually, trying to figure out who was actually worth pursuing.

The bottleneck was clear: the research itself was eating the team alive. Every new signup meant opening social profiles, counting followers, scrolling through posts, and making a judgment call. It was repetitive, time-consuming, and inconsistent between reps.

What We Built

We built an n8n automation that triggers the moment a signup form is submitted. The workflow researches the prospect automatically — scraping their public social profiles, analysing post content, and classifying whether they genuinely operate in the fitness niche. Only leads that pass the classification threshold generate a Slack alert for the sales team.

Unqualified leads are logged but never surface to the team. Qualified leads arrive in Slack with a pre-built research summary — follower counts, niche classification confidence, and the specific signals that triggered the qualification.

How It Works

  1. Form submission triggers the n8n workflow via webhook
  2. Profile scraper pulls public data from the prospect’s social accounts — follower counts, post frequency, engagement signals
  3. Post content analysis — recent posts sampled and analysed for fitness-relevant content, keywords, and audience signals
  4. Niche classifier scores the account: fitness creator / adjacent / not relevant
  5. Threshold logic filters out unqualified leads before anything reaches the team
  6. Slack alert fires only for qualified leads, with a pre-built summary: niche score, follower count, key signals, and profile link
